Learning
Embark on a journey of personal exploration and self-transformation with Dandapani in Cambodia and Malaysia
A Typical Class Day
When our day is dedicated to staying at the hotel and learning, the morning begins with an hour of yoga asana practice. Then it’s breakfast on our own at the hotel, followed by a 3-hour morning class with Dandapani.
Class often begins with a meditation practice, which Dandapani will lead everyone through. Then it’s the study of the syllabus that has been planned for the retreat. The morning class is divided into two sessions with a break in between. Classes are highly interactive, and participants are encouraged to engage with Dandapani to gain clarity and understanding of the teachings and their practical applicability in everyday life.
After class, we often have lunch together. Then it’s some free time before we regroup in the afternoon for another couple of hours of classes. There is a little more free time before dinner, which is almost always had together. The days that are punctuated with outings are partially different in their structure.
Articulating Your Purpose
One of the primary objectives of this retreat is to help participants achieve greater or complete clarity around the spiritual philosophy they subscribe to. This is critical. Once this is in place, a purpose derived from that philosophy can be articulated.
We are gathering not to explore various philosophies but rather to do a deep dive into Hindu philosophy. Our study will be based on this. You need not be a Hindu to attend this retreat, but it is important for you to know that our study is based on Hindu philosophy.
Once the philosophy and goal are known, a path to that goal needs to be articulated, followed by the lifestyle structure (guidelines and practices) that need to be lived by in order to keep us on the path to that goal.
A Spiritual Life
In order to structure a lifestyle that allows for consistent spiritual unfoldment, it is imperative that we have a better understanding of our mind and energy. All participants would be required to complete reading the book "The Power of Unwavering Focus" prior to attending the retreat. This book will form the base upon which we dive deeper into the study of the mind and energy.
How we structure a life that allows us to lead a spiritual lifestyle will be one of the main focus points of this retreat. Part of doing this will involve us diving deep into the study of the mind and energy by learning about:
The three states of mind (instinctive, intellectual, and intuitive), the characteristics of each of these states, how to identify in which of these states awareness is, and how to move awareness between them;
An in-depth study of energy, such as learning about odic and actinic energy and how to identify them in people, things, and places. This is critical as we want actinic surroundings because they have the energy to help move awareness to higher states of mind.
masculine and feminine currents (ida and pingala) - how to know which one we are predominantly functioning in, how to shift between them and create more balance with this
The chakras (centers of consciousness within the body, which are connected to various areas of the mind). By understanding the chakras, we can better understand where awareness is in our mind and what comes next.
The most important outcomes
The biggest takeaway I hope you get from participating in this retreat is clarity around your spiritual philosophy, which will then allow you to articulate your purpose in life. In addition, you will gain clarity on how to structure your life so that you can lead a spiritual life, empowered with the teachings and tools necessary to make progress on the spiritual path.
