Siem Reap

Our journey begins in Siem Reap, the ethereal heart of Cambodia. Located in northwestern Cambodia, it is a city steeped in history and culture, and is best known as the gateway to the Angkor Archaeological Park, home to the magnificent Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. It whispers tales of ancient spirituality amidst its mystical landscapes. The city's rich heritage is reflected in its French colonial and Chinese-style architecture, bustling markets, and vibrant arts scene.

Cambodia

The Angkor Archaeological Park is a UNESCO world heritage site and is the largest religious site in the world, home to over 72 major temples. In total, over 1000 structures are located around an extended area of the region. The Angkorian period began in AD 802, when the Khmer Hindu monarch Jayavarman II declared himself a "universal monarch" and "god-king", and lasted until the late 14th century. Hinduism was the largest religion in the ancient Khmer Empire, and many temples were constructed by Khmer kings dedicated to Hindu deities, including Angkor Wat.

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, founded in 1857 as a tin mining town, rapidly grew due to its strategic location, and today the city has transformed into a bustling metropolis, marked by its diverse culture and landmarks like the Petronas Twin Towers. Rich cultural diversity thrives in its bustling streets, where Malay, Chinese, and Indian influences converge.

Our time in Kuala Lumpur is focused on wrapping up our study and experiencing the spiritual power in a few of its century-old Hindu temples. Unlike the temples in Siem Reap, which have been abandoned, the Hindu temples in Kuala Lumpur are very much alive and reverberate with the presence of the deities that are worshiped each day by the Hindu community.
